Bromine versus Chlorine
Most hot tubs use either bromine or chlorine-based sanitation. They are similar, though different chemicals belong to a family of chemicals called halogens. Iodine and fluorine are also members of this family of chemicals.
Blu Fusion is a bromine system using the salt, sodium bromide. Bromine is the superior sanitizer in a hot tub for a couple of reasons. Unlike chlorine it does not off-gas, so it stays in the water. It is also a reliable sanitizer regardless of spa water pH while chlorine is only effective at killing bacteria in a narrow pH range.
Additionally, bromine does not have the “chlorine” smell. Finally, most people find bromine to be gentler on their skin than chlorine even though it’s the more effective sanitizer.
No Additional Chemicals
Unlike other spa sanitization regimens, there is only one chemical used in a Blu Fusion spa – bromine. To be more accurate, this “bromine” is actually a very weak acid called hypobromous acid and it’s the only chemical in your spa water. There is no cyanuric acid as with the most common chlorine sanitizer nor binding agents used in granular products.
By the way, many chlorine salt systems are really not pure salt systems. Many of them require the addition of supplementary chlorine in the form of dichlor or what’s call “cal hypo .” Blu Fusion is a pure salt system. No supplemental sanitizer is needed.
The Feeling of Soft
The concentration of salt in a Blu Fusion hot tub is around 1,500 ppm. This is too low for you to taste it, yet it still have an effect on another organ, the largest organ in your body, your skin. While in the spa water you will notice that it feels softer than standard tap water. And, when you exit your spa and dry off you will also notice your skin feeling softer.
Eco Friendly
Because Blu Fusion uses only sodium bromide salt and no additional chemicals are needed after the initial addition of this salt, you will drain and refill your hot tub annually, rather than the 3 – 4 times a year needed with many other spa sanitation regimens. Consequently, not only are you not adding other chemicals to the environment when you drain your spa you also save approx. 800 – 1,000 gallons of water every year.
